About Us

Both born and raised in the area, we always have been--and are still very proud to call this beautiful little community our home.

We grew up loving sports, loving nature, and we most definitely love being in the company of people! Our 2 adult sons, William and Drew, share our love for people, sports and the outdoors and despite living their own lives, remain instrumental in the day-to-day operations of our business.

Our love for the outdoors, hands-on work and being surrounded by 'happy campers' were just a few of our reasons for getting into the seasonal campground business back in 2009. Knowing that we play a role in families making wonderful memories is what keeps us going to this day. Despite having a full-time manager at Round Lake, we are heavily involved in much of the day-to-day operations and take the time to get to know all of our clients on a personal and social basis.

With a combined 24 year career in Human Resources and Public Relations, Monique has always had a passion for people, events, communication, and investing in communities. In 2017, Monique made the difficult decision to leave the company and job she loved to pursue other interests and to play a more active role in the business she loves more.

Anyone who knows Kevin knows he was born a ‘people person’. His 35 year career in the oil and gas industry has provided him with the leadership, safety, interpersonal, and managerial skills necessary to successfully run our business. His incredible vision back in 2008 has become our incredible reality.

Respect

Among a litany of other subjects, respect remains a consistent topic and is the general theme in our campgrounds. As life-long residents of the community, we always have and always will continue to show respect to our clients, the environment, and to the community in which we live, work and play. We strive to provide our campers with enjoyable camping experiences while respecting our land, our lease land, our neighbours, and their property. We expect nothing more and nothing less from our clients and their visitors.

Donations and Other Community Investments

Non-profit groups play a vital role in building healthy communities by providing critical amenities and services. For a small and remote community, Wandering River has an impressive and dedicated non-profit and volunteer base – a base of which, we are happy to support through monetary, in-kind donations, and volunteer time.

Since 2017, we have been co-hosting our annual 'Campground Cup' golf tournament with Darrin and Lisa Penney from Better Den Ome Campground. The tournament is held at the beautiful Riverbank Golf and RV Park here in Wandering River and to date (2017-2023) we have been able to donate an incredible $45,592 to various clubs and groups in our community on behalf of our generous participants, sponsors, and donors!

Family-Friendly Campground Events and Incentives

As sponsors, hosts, and organizers of several campground events and incentives, we are happy to ‘give back’ to the clients who have supported us over the years.

Economic Impact

The nature of our business makes for an ideal co-existence with a number of other local businesses and contractors in the community and our commitment to ‘hire local’ when possible means they can look forward to our support for many years to come.

Thank yous!

Thank you!

Opening two locations just one year apart whilst working full-time jobs and raising our young sons would have been an impossible feat had it not been for the support of William & Drew, several community members, and local contractors.

Our manager, Jamie Melanson has been camping at Round Lake Campground since opening for business in May of 2010. Having rarely missed a weekend of camping, he quickly and naturally assumed the role of ‘weekend manager’. Jamie has since retired, has taken on the new role of ‘full time’ manager and can be found at the campground every single day during camping season. Jamie’s love for camping, his friendly nature and dedication makes him an ideal fit and a huge asset to our business.

Last but certainly not least, a heart-felt thank you to the hundreds of wonderful clients that we met since opening for business in 2009. Some have moved on but so many of you still camp or ‘glamp’ with us to this day. Thank you for taking a chance on us and for choosing Round Lake Campground and Highway 63 RV Park as your recreation paradise! We are forever grateful for your support.

We will never forget the kindness, generosity, and support that we received over the years and we are forever grateful to all of you.
